Position Summary

The QA Test Engineer reports to the Corporate IT Manager in India. This is a role in Huron’s Software Engineering team based in India and works with Software Development and Corporate IT resources based in India and the US.

Under general direction, this individual is responsible for carrying out procedures to ensure that all software, hardware, applications and services meet the standards of the organization and end-user requirements, analyzing and testing software and application configuration to ensure that products meet design specifications and are within total quality management limits and standards. This individual is expected to participate actively in the entire software development life cycle (SDLC) including helping to develop quality standards, test cases, software/hardware and application testing, and documenting process and test outcomes. They are responsible for developing, modifying and executing test plans and suites and communicating with product developers and technical support specialists on software issues. In addition, they are expected to perform tests to ensure proper operation and freedom from defects. They may create test data to ensure thorough evaluation, documents and work to resolve basic problems and report progress on problem resolution to management.

The QA Test Engineer applies company policies and procedures to address a variety of issues. They are also responsible for automation of regression tests and ensuring the quality of the code.

Qualifications

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works with Project Managers, Business Analysts, Software Engineers and other team members to ensure all testing needs for projects are met in a timely manner and that all hardware, application configurations, and software products meet the quality expectations of the business. Works with team members spread across multiple time zones and geographic locations.

  • Helps to develop procedures to increase the effectiveness of the QA team

  • Evaluates work, helps contribute to metrics, analyses, and other relevant reports regarding the quality of testing.

  • Keeps all relevant testing documentation up to date and available to appropriate parties

  • Creates and execute test plans, cases and scripts from business requirement documents or vendor specifications. Ensures documentation is thorough and clear for consumption by multiple parties.

  • Contributes to team development and performance to achieve team goals

  • Works with confidential and proprietary company and client data

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow defined processes

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Computer Information Systems or equivalent experience.

  • Work history: 2-3 years working in a QA/Testing role, with at least 2 years’ experience testing software across multiple browsers/platforms.

  • Experience :

  • Knowledge on Test Management Tools such as Azure Test Plans, Microsoft Test Manager, JIRA, Quality Center etc.

  • Success working with varied teams, partnering with Software Engineers, Application Engineers, IT Managers, and Business Analysts.

  • Reporting issues/bugs/failed tests into systems consumed by team members across global locations.

  • Experience on Automation Tools Selenium (JAVA) etc.

  • Automation/Manual testing Frameworks and procedures.

  • Experience in testing Web applications /Salesforce applications

  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum Methodology

  • Abilities:

  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills, including proofreading and editing.

  • Strong team focus, willingness to help others, and problem solve team solution needs

  • Under normal supervision a demonstrated ability to develop and create test cases from structured business requirements documentation as well as from less structured, ad-hoc, and/or limited documentation.

  • Proactively analyze, identify, and communicate problems effectively.

  • Proactively learn about new technology and QA techniques.

  • Work in a fast paced, high-pressure, and developing team environment.
